In this week’s Fast Finance lesson, New York Institute of Finance Instructor, Anton Theunissen, explains Warrants – an option written by a company on its own stock – and how they function in the finance industry. An important aspect of a Warrant shows that if the option is exercised, the company will typically issue more stock. So the effect of the option exercised is to dilute the existing stockholders which has feedback effect on the value of the option.

Anton has twelve years of financial services experience and more than 10 years of academic experience, teaching finance, economics and mathematics to graduate and undergraduate students. His research interests include the effects of securitization and rational default behavior on mortgage credit extension.
